John Piper (1903-1992)
John Piper is famous for his prints of architecture,
especially
churches, his landscapes and his theatrical designs.
He studied at the
Royal College of Art.
He was also a prolific writer. He worked with Benjamin Britten,
designing operatic sets and also designed for the ballet.
He became a
Trustee of the Tate Gallery and a member of the Arts Council and was
made a Companion of Honour in 1972.
